Online Distance Learning - University of Essex Online

Wendy Trevor BA, MA, PhD

Wendy has had a varied career working as a critical care nurse and writer in the USA before returning to school as an adult student to pursue a career as a lecturer. She attended The College of William and Mary before receiving her BA from the University of Maryland University College in 2003. She read for her MA and PhD at The University of Birmingham, receiving her MA with distinction in 2005 and her PhD in July 2010. She has over 10 years of teaching experience in a variety of settings both online and in bricks and mortar classrooms, from private and public educational institutions in the US to the university setting in the UK.

She has enjoyed working with students from all over the world, with a variety of learning styles and differences from age 16-70 and has a keen understanding of the challenges faced and rewards reaped by the adult learner, having been one herself.

She has been a part of University of Essex Online since 2008, first as a tutor, and then as the Academic Support Co-ordinator before taking the post of Programme Leader for Criminal Justice in July 2010.
