Studying Foundation Degree in Business & Management
I recommend KOL for this platform of learning as it suits my individual needs, Ideally I would have loved to attend University full time and leave with flying honours and colours by applying 100% to study time, and this distance learning platform provides a partial cushion for this goal.
Married with two sons, aged 14 and 11.
I'm exempt from 6 modules because I have the AAT qualification. I was on the AAT website which Kaplan were advertising their courses on. It's something I've always wanted to do (gain a degree) but put off. I'd also recently visited my local University to investigate the possibility of enrolling on a degree course. Admittedly it was time consuming just trying to speak to a Tutor at the university, who I had to chase to provide some information that he'd said he would get back to me with. I was still not certain to whether I wanted to commit to attending University two nights a week when I came across Kaplan.
I log onto the website during my lunch break at work and in quite periods (which are very few!) to read and join the discussions. I read the module books at home and make sure I've read all the chapters that I'm suppose to. When it's time to submit a report I will work on a skeleton of it during the week (at night) and then spend Sunday completing it. I normally have a finished version by Sunday night but wait until Monday to submit so I can have one final check.
I've found the course very interesting so far, I'm only on my third module but it's not been a chore and I'm really enjoying it. I've recommended Kaplan to a couple of people and completing the course on-line is a great way to do it.
There are times when I find the discussions difficult to begin with, but once I get into them I normally enjoy these. I've attended 95% of the seminars also and enjoyed actually hearing people’s voices and the discussions which have taken place. The academic advisors are extremely helpful and the Tutors are very encouraging.
