Studying BA (Hons) in Business & Management
I’ve recently been promoted to manager at a private health and social care company, and I wanted to earn a degree without sacrificing my career. My company provides rehabilitation care for adults with mental health problems, learning disabilities, brain injuries, and diagnosis of alcohol and drug misuse. Last year I became a registered manager with the Commission for Social Care Inspection.
Studying for a Foundation Degree is more affordable for me than going to university, and the flexibility of the University of Essex Online course means I can continue to work while I study. For me, this is a perfect way of studying to get a degree. I found Kaplan’s web site coincidently whilst browsing on the internet, and I am really thankful for finding it.
The first module was not too difficult and was a very useful introduction to the studies. It was aimed mainly towards organising ourselves as students and creating personal development plans.
Now the second module – Business Environment – has been more difficult and has involved more reading and researching, and the study material is quite vocational in its focus. The structure of the module is really excellent and the support from the tutor and the team has really helped me.
Using Kaplan’s learning system is very simple, and because the timetable is clear and predictable, you can easily plan your studies. You know when you are able to access the new unit so you have the time to read and prepare yourself for discussions. The tutor gives helpful hints and clues about how and where to get to more information and he answers all the questions that students have.
I’m finding that it is very important to keep up because the week really flies by fast and there is not much time between two units.
I have enjoyed the course so far and it’s already giving me new knowledge and insight. The assignments are also very interesting and make me want to read more.
I would strongly recommend Kaplan to anyone who is in full time employment and would like to achieve more as well as to stretch their knowledge and maybe even change their careers.
