Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are scholarships?

Scholarships are sums of money, offered by individuals or organisations, that are awarded to students to help with the costs of undertaking a course of study. They differ from loans in that they do not have to be paid back. There is a selection process to determine recipients of the funds.

Q: What are scholarships used for?

The use of scholarships differs with each scholarship offered. All scholarships offered by Kaplan Open Learning will be applied to the cost of the tuition and course fees and will not be returned to the student.

Q: Is every student eligible to apply for scholarships?

Subject to meeting the criteria, and all the terms and conditions, you will be eligible to apply for a Kaplan Open Learning scholarship. All scholarships are offered as a competitive process.

Q: How quickly will I hear if I have been successful?

The Kaplan Open Learning Scholarship panel will notify successful students by Monday 26th November 2007. Unfortunately it will not be possible to notify unsuccessful applicants.
