1. Work with fellow online students

Chat rooms, discussion boards and seminars enable you to interact with other students, build networks and benefit from each others’ work experiences.
The tutor led, fortnightly online seminars bring the class together and allow you to interact in real time.
Online learning is much more than distance learning with email.

Our unique online learning environment is accessible whenever you have an internet connection (work, home, hotels, libraries, internet cafes). Our students frequently access seminars from abroad.
Our structured, fortnightly deadlines help to keep you motivated, connected and on track.

4. Complete the FdA in as little as two years and the BA top-up in a year

Taking the “accelerated study route” will allow you to complete your degree in the same time it would take in a full time, campus based university. This is because our courses run 48 weeks a year rather than 32 weeks.
Should your circumstances change, you can take control of your studies by speeding up, slowing down or taking a break.

Your work is assessed and moderated to defined criteria agreed with the University of Essex and quality assured by Exam Boards

6. Supportive environment

Tutors and Academic Advisers are accessible through telephone, email and instant messaging during and outside normal working hours.
At Kaplan, contact between students and tutors is much higher than at traditional universities where typically hundreds of students attend a lecture. Our classes are restricted to 25 students.
Academic Advisers will provide you with support and assistance throughout your course.
Thanks to our extensive support network, our retention, as reported to HESA in 2007/2008, was 95%.

7. Foundation Degrees

Our degrees have been developed in consultation with employers, are workplace focused and will benefit your career.
Once you graduate, you can continue your studies to a BA (Hons) degree, also delivered by Kaplan online and validated by the University of Essex.

8. Value for Money

Subject to certain conditions (UK or other EU citizens etc) our courses are funded by the UK government (Higher Education Funding Council) which makes our courses excellent value for money.
You can spread your costs by paying by module
Means tested grants may be available.
There are no exam fees and all textbooks are included and of course you do not incur any travel expenses.
A report published by Universities UK in February 2007 found that the gross additional lifetime earnings is approx. £160,000 or between 20 and 25% more for individuals with a higher education qualification than for those with two or more A-levels.

9. Graduate from the University of Essex

You will be awarded your degree by the University of Essex, ranked 36th (out of 117) in the Guardian University Guide 2008.
You will be invited to a Graduation Ceremony.
