2011 Graduates
Graduate Stories
I first became aware of KOL degrees via the AAT, when I was made aware that I could gain exemptions due to my AAT qualification. Completing a degree had always been an ambition of mine, however I felt that it was out of my personal reach due to the cost and the fact that I had not completed A Levels. Upon requesting information regarding the KOL degree programme I was pleasently surprised to see just how accessible and affordable gaining a degree could be.
Although I was apprehensive prior to starting the degree (I was never an A* student) I quickly became familiar with the format and deadlines and actually started to enjoy my course. The way in which the course is broken into managable pieces meant that I could study whilst still carrying out my full time job and part time evening job, sometimes studying 2 modules at a time. Also the way in which seminars are presented across the internet, has always been a bonus as it removes the need to travel to a classroom, and even allows you to have a cheeky glass of wine whilst in class!
Whilst studying for the past 18 months it has not always been easy and sacrificies have had to be made, weekend shopping, afternoons in the park and evening television have often been cast aside in exchange for the completion of an essay. I have also had to move house 3 times whilst studying, which was fun as long as you kept an eye on where your laptop and text books were at all times!
All of that said, completing this degree has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my entire life. I have shown not only others but also myself that I am capable of something really special if I set my mind to it. I have completed my course and gained a 'Distinction' for every module completed except one (Merit), which even now I still cannot believe, I work hard but I have never achieved something at this level. In addition to my academic achievement; I have also been able to contribute to some really important projects within my workplace, due to my new found knowledge of theories and practices. Managers and senior staff have approached me for guidance and support and this has been a real morale boost.
I would encourage anybody to study for their degree with KOL as they make is so accessible, and their help and support is invaluable. I never believed that I could achieve at this level but now that I do; nothing can stop me or hold me back.
