Our Foundation Degree in probation studies examines the use and purpose of custody, its impact on the lives of offenders, types of prisons and the latest developments within probation service.

Students will have the opportunity to examine the role of criminal courts; look at sentencing trends and as well as gain an understanding on how the Probation Service works with victims and the need for offenders to develop empathy in relation to their victims.
Our degree programme is designed to be of interest to and provide career development for current Probation Service Officers and those who aspire to employment with the Probation Service. Achievement of the foundation degree award will also be very attractive to other potential employers in the Criminal Justice System, such as Youth Offending Teams, the Prison Service, Police and voluntary sector organisations.
