Optional Module: Community Justice
Introduction
Analyse the increasing involvement of
the community in the judicial process.
It considers the role of the community,
how the relationship between it and the
judiciary can be strengthened and its
relevance to community policing.
Module Description
This module aims to:
- Ensure students understand the rationale behind community justice
- Develop an awareness of the concept of ‘community’ and their role
- Consider the importance of public confidence
- Identify and critically assess the key agencies that assist with the implementation of
community justice
- Identify and critically evaluate some of the community sentences currently available
