Level 4: Business Skills
Introduction
Develop communication; numerical and verbal skills; develop the ability to conduct numerical analysis and how to present data in the context of your workplace; develop time management skills and the ability to manage information resources.
Module Description
This module aims to:
- Provide students with experience of basic quantitative techniques and skills; and
- Give students confidence in communicating numerically as well as verbally using a range of media which are widely used in business (these domains are a feature of the general business and management benchmarks , in which “effective communication, oral and in writing” and “numeracy and quantitative skills including data analysis, interpretation and extrapolation” are part of graduate skills).

- Self-awareness
- Time management
- Business communication – internal and external
- Effective presentations
- Team building and management
- Types of data, including primary and secondary discrete and continuous data
- Diagrams, tables and histograms
- Averages and measures of spread
- Introduction to sampling and significance testing, including the chi-square test
- Regression and correlation analysis
