Level 4: Work Based Learning
Introduction
This double module gives you the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained from your course to your work place.
Module Description
This module aims to:
- Demonstrate achievement of the learning outcomes with reference to the student’s personal development
- Develop the student learning process by providing a vehicle to reflect on practice
- Evaluate personal competencies
- Evaluate the relationship between theory and work experience
Module Content
In the initial phase of the module, students will be expected to identify a workplace Mentor and in conjunction with that Mentor choose a relevant project title. This should entail some reflection upon previous learning. There will be a focus upon the skills, knowledge and resources necessary to successfully complete the project.
Learning Agreement – Students will be required to familiarise themselves with the Learning Agreement and to complete it.
Reflective Log & Report – The log is an update on the student’s progress in respect of the project with it having to be submitted on three separate and appropriately staged occasions.
The Reflective Report submitted with the End of Module Project should reflect upon what the student has learned, discuss any problems that were encountered during the project, how those problems were resolved and with the benefit of hindsight identify how the project might be approached differently.
Accordingly, the following elements provide the framework:
- Learning from experience
- Learning agreement
- Reflective log
- Reflective report
- Professional environment
- Working with Mentor/manager
- Sector management practice
