Level 1: Criminal Justice System & its Dynamics
Introduction
Examines the changing face of criminal
justice within England and Wales and
explores the influences behind these
changes and their social and economic
impact. You will be introduced to all the
key aspects of the criminal trial process
including appeals and bail as well as
exploring police powers and protecting
witnesses.
Module Description
This module aims to:
- Raise students’ awareness of the role and importance of multi‐agency activity within
the sector
- Provide an outline of aspects of the criminal trial process
- Provide an outline of police powers and bail
- Develop an awareness of the vulnerability of witnesses
- Ensure students recognise the increasing involvement of the local community within
the criminal justice arena
- Develop an awareness of the impact of social and economic policies on community
safety
